17th Asia Oceania Congress of Nuclear Medicine and Biology (AOCNMB) 2025
December 4 - 7, 2025 | ITC Grand Chola, Chennai, India
Theme: Theranostic Nuclear Medicine for Everyone, Everywhere
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you all to the 17th Asia Oceania Congress of Nuclear Medicine and Biology (AOCNMB 2025), to be held in the vibrant city of Chennai, India. This major event, hosted by the Society of Nuclear Medicine India (SNMI), will bring together leading minds in Nuclear Medicine and Theranostics from across the region and beyond.
The theme “Theranostic Nuclear Medicine for Everyone, Everywhere” reflects our shared mission to expand access to personalized nuclear medicine. This congress will play an important role in advancing that goal-raising awareness and promoting equitable access to Theranostics, particularly across Asia, where nuclear medicine infrastructure and practice remain highly heterogeneous.
SNMI has long been a key driver of nuclear medicine education, research, and clinical advancement, not only in India but regionally and globally. We are proud to collaborate with them in delivering a scientific program that will highlight cutting-edge developments in molecular imaging, radiotheranostics, artificial intelligence, and radiopharmaceutical innovation.I extend my sincere thanks to Dr. E. Prabhu, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, and the entire SNMI team for their outstanding dedication in preparing what will undoubtedly be a memorable and impactful congress.
I warmly invite all nuclear medicine professionals, researchers, and trainees to join us in Chennai as we come together to share knowledge, build partnerships, and shape the future of Theranostics-ensuring it reaches everyone, everywhere.
Warm regards,

MD, FRCP, FEBNM, FANMB, DCBNC, FRCP(E)
President, Asia Oceania Federation of Nuclear Medicine & Biology (AOFNMB)
Chairman, Nuclear Medicine Department, King Hussein Cancer Center, Amman, Jordan
The year of 2025 is the 100th anniversary of “Theory of Quantum Mechanics” described by Werner Karl Heisenberg (1925), followed by Erwin Schrödinger (1926) and Paul Dirac (1928).
Congratulations to the AOCNMB 2025 in Chennai, India, where the members of AOFNMB will join from Asia-Pacific regions and beyond to enhance a friendship each other.
The Lancet Oncology Commission reported current status of Radiology and Theranostics (Abdel-Wahab M, et al. The Lancet Oncology 2024 25:E540-580). A big expansion of nuclear medicine in our regions was expected by more accessibility and more human resource development of professionals. The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development/Nuclear Energy Agency (OECD/NEA) held the international workshop on global medical radioisotope supply for sustainable and increasing accessibility (2023 and 2024 in Paris). The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) supported to publish guiding principles on the education and practice of theranostics (Pascual T, et al. EJNMMI 2024 51:2320-2331). Under the IAEA Rays of Hope Initiative, two Anchor Centers of international education and training for nuclear medicine theranostics launched in our regions, one in Jordan (Prof. Akram Al-Ibraheem) and another in Japan (Prof. Yuji Nakamoto). AOFNMB has contributed to these global activities and will continue further.
Once again, thank you so much for organizing the AOCNMB 2025 in Chennai.
Sincerely yours,

Jun Hatazawa, MD, PhD
Honorary President of AOFNMB
Special Advisor to Japan Atomic Energy Commission
Professor, Research Center for Nuclear Physics, Osaka University
We are excited that the 17th Asia Oceania Congress of Nuclear Medicine and Biology, alongside the 57th Annual Conference of the Society of Nuclear Medicine India will be held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India http://aocnmb2025.com/. This global event aims to promote Theragnostic Nuclear Medicine as strategy for addressing global healthcare challenges with cost effective solutions.
Ancient Tamil poetess Avvayar, 2000 years ago, while describing the philosophies espoused by Thirukkural 'as extracting boundless energy from an atom, symbolizing humanity's deep understanding of atomic potential. By stating 'அணுவைத் துளைத்து ஏழ் கடலைப் புகட்டிக் குறுகத் தறித்த குறள் (Anuvai Thulaithu Azh kadalai pugatti kurugath Tharitha Kural)'.
Nuclear Medicine harnesses energy to objectively advance the science and art medicine for the betterment of humanity. We invite participants from around the world to join us, share knowledge and wisdom for the well-being of humanity.

Dear Colleagues
On behalf of the Society of Nuclear Medicine India (SNMI) we wholeheartedly welcome you all to participate in the AOCNMB 2025 from 04.12.2025 to 07.12.2025 (4 days) in Hotel ITC Grand Chola, Chennai. The Tamil Culture is renowned globally since ancient times, for its culture and hospitality. Our >5000 years old language is rich in literature, grammar, poetry and arts. We are the educational hub of India and perhaps, South – east Asia.
Nuclear Medicine in India is experiencing an exponential growth in recent times.. We now have about 560 Nuclear Medicine Institutions across our country and soon we will have about 2000 healthcare organizations across our country, having Nuclear Medicine facilities.
In this conference, apart from countries in the ambit of AOFNMB, several other international organisations like the SNMMI (USA), Latin American Society, the WARMTH & the BRICS Nuclear Medicine Societies will be actively participating. We are in fact promoting Nuclear Medicine as a cost effective strategy to face the global healthcare challenges.
We welcome you all to partake this great academic and culinary feast and to share love and happiness with everyone in the world.
